shut that boy up

written by brad layher

stuck behind the doors of youth,
i heard them talking in the corner of my room,
my room,

i could here them say today's the day,
we're going to rearrange his room,
my room,

let's take his bed turn it upside down,
and spin his head, make him frown,
then not hang around...

gotta shut the door and shut that boy up,
cause he don't know much about this life,
gotta shut that boy up,
cause he can't know why,
they shut that boy up,
gotta bottle up his soul...cause he cannot know.

so in i walked to a room once mine,
and they kindly shut the door behind me,
my door,

falling asleep by the cobwebs on the floor,
there were boards on the windows,
my windows,

couldn't break the boards,
couldn't shake the night,
couldn't take that door down,
they locked it tight,
but i learned to like it...

chorus

i used to sleep alot in the room upon my floor,
i used to like my prison door,
but i do not like it no more...

gotta bust the door, bust that door down,
cause i know a bit about this life,
gotta shut that bot up,
cause i know why,
they shut that boy up,
and bottled up his soul...cause that boy knows.
