traffic light nine

written by brad layher

will this road ever end,
will it take me to that place,
and bring me face to face
with where i need to be,
can i stop along the way.
visit those creek banks beside me,
in hopes that they will remind me,
where i need to play

and i'm stuck here at traffic light nine,
wasting my time,
trying to push my place in the line,
trying to move past the
middle of my life,

keeping in time is sure getting hard,
the past is closing in quickly,
i'd be lucky for it to not nick me,
when i'm shaving without my guard,
and the stars were meant to align,
some grow stronger in time,
and in time man they sure will shine,
i hope they will shine,
